Cachy OS!

Trying it for the first time

KDE Plasma 6 is now available but not for Kubuntu which is my daily driver distro. I recently learned that the Arch Linux based Cachy OS has KDE Plasma 6 and as an Arch Linux enjoyer, I’m going to give it a try.

While I am able to install Arch via the command line, it’s been a struggle for me each time I’ve tried. Guaranteed, I’ll be looking at the notes I’ve made for myself on how to install it. 😅 So it was a treat to go through Cachy OS’s graphics based install process (and a lot faster too).

So that’s the first difference: Installation is easier with Cachy OS. I also have notes on how I configured an Arch installation I did, the last time I did it so the next thing I took a look at was making a swap file.

Per my notes, I referenced this video by Average Linux User on how to make a swap file but upon checking the fresh installation of Cachy OS (see image below) using sudo free -h I found that it already comes with a swap file!

I’m going to try to keep each of these Cachy OS posts brief so I’ll stop here. I’ll take care to post again when I find something new and interesting as I go. 👌
